Itinerary

The Middle Fork of the American River is the one of the best summertime Class IV whitewater rafting trip in California. This trip meets at 8:15 AM in Auburn. A 45 minute van ride dead ends at Oxbow Reservoir where gear is distributed and the stoke begins. H2O hits your face early with Good Morning rapid. A warmup is immediately needed as the infamous Tunnel Chute rapid is just over a mile downstream. After five miles of good class 3/4 whitewater, the river settles down and provides opportunities for rock jumping, surfing, and â€˜riding the bullâ€™ as we float through the canyon towards a riverside lunch stop.
Following lunch the river complies with our need to digest and remains calm for a few more miles until arriving at Chunder Pond. From here the river changes drastically with rapids such as Chunder Falls, Parallel Parking, and Ski Jump bringing your adrenaline to a high again. A mandatory walk around Ruck-A-Chucky falls allows for a chance to watch your guides run their raft down a commercial class 6 waterfall. Your trip concludes at the old Greenwood Bridge site. Guests are returned to their vehicles around 4:00 PM.

The trip was amazing. Recommend everyone should at least try it once in their lifetime. The kids love it. Thank you Devon! You were funny and ensure our safety at the same time. We will definitely do it again next year.

Had a great time white water rafting with H2O adventures! Our guide Ben was very nice and supportive. He showed us really cool things about the river and made sure we were taken care of with plenty of food and water. The experience would not have been the same without Ben!

We went on the full 17 mile trip it was an amazing adventure. The guide Matt Kelley was the best ever. They provided a great lunch on the beach along the way. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking for a great time.

Our guide, Ben was phenomenal. He was very savvy re the rapids, took an interest in each person on our raft, and really looked out for our safety. The trip itself was very well organized with friendly & professional staff at every encounter. The rapids were thrilling & plentiful, even for a very experienced rafter as I am. Lunch was great. The only thing I didn’t like (& wasn’t prepared for) was when we had to disembark the raft and climb up (& then down) big rocks to avoid a dangerous rapid.

We had such a great time. We loved all of our guides: Ben, Chet, Matt & Keagan. They gave us a blast on the river and kept us safe. They were tons of fun. And they were also amazing chefs! We ate so well. All of the food they prepared was top notch. We had a bunch of young men and adults in our group and we all had a wonderful time.

What a rush! There were 5 of us, youngest 18 and the oldest 65 and every last one of us had a blast! The very first rapid Tunnel Shoot is really intense but if you don’t mind drinking a little of the river and you’re heart pumping out of your chest, you’ll love it! We all loved our guide Trevor and will definitely be going again.

OMG what a day! Keegan was the best raft guide! Got us all down the Middle Fork in one piece. He was a blast!!!! The whole company had everything dialed in, incredible spread for our mid-day lunch. Good time was had by all!

My kids and I were first time rafters, we had an absolute blast. Our guide Mike played a huge role in our enjoyment, he made us feel very confident that we would be safe and have a great time. Definitely recommend checking out H2O adventures. Ohh yeah and lunch was GREAT too!

What a great adventure we had ! Beautiful scenic area and treacherous rapids! But your company made those rapids fun ! Our guide Nikki and all of your other employees were the best I’ve ever seen. And we saw many companies running the rapids that day. Their experience and their professionalism was so impressive and welcome. And their knowledge of the river was Absolutly amazing. The equipment and rafts used were newer and in tremendously better condition than the others on the river also. We will be back and soon. And when we do H2O is the ONLY company for us ! Thank you for the adventure of a lifetime !

My family of four (two teenage daughters) had an awesome time with H2O adventures last week! All of the guides are amazing, but we thought Natalie was the most amazing. She made our day so enjoyable and kept us safe while navigating some very challenging rapids on the middle fork of the American River. I highly recommend H2O adventures if you want a well organized and professional group that loves to have a great time!
